Chanille Carswell’s practice focuses on all aspects of trademark law including trademark prosecution, enforcement and litigation. Chanille represents clients in proactive trademark protection counseling as well as in the pursuit/prosecution of those who infringe on clients' trademarks, through cease and desist negotiations, opposition and cancellation proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and litigation. She has experience working with clients in a wide range of industries such as automotive, banking, consumer products, and e-commerce. Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Chanille served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Victoria A. Roberts of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. There she researched and drafted bench memoranda, orders and opinions in various areas of law including trademark, trade dress and patent infringement, products liability, and commercial litigation matters. Chanille has also worked as a staff attorney for UAW Chrysler Legal Services, where she litigated civil cases from inception through bench and jury trials. Early in her career, Chanille also worked as a litigation staff attorney for the Legal Aid and Defender Association (Civil and Criminal Divisions). During those years, she handled all aspects of litigation in civil and criminal cases through bench and jury trials, engaged in all aspects of motion practice and discovery, negotiated settlement and plea agreements, and provided general legal counseling as well.
