Lance Pritikin leverages his broad engineering and business leadership background when serving his clients. The primary focus of his law practice is patent and trademark prosecution, copyrights and litigation. His intellectual property experience includes preparing patent applications in the fields of mechanical and electromechanical devices, performing export control analyses, conducting prior art surveys, preparing trademark registration applications and negotiating agreements relating to intellectual property rights. Prior to joining Brooks Kushman P.C., Lance served as a lead spacecraft engineer for one of the largest defense contractors in the world. He also acquired nearly a decade of CAD, CAM, FEA and rapid prototyping experience as an independent design engineer and manufacturing quality control consultant. Having founded his own small R&D and engineering services companies, he is keenly aware of how technical, business and legal issues interrelate. Lance uses his comprehensive experience to help his clients make short-term decisions that best serve their long-term goals. Lance earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. In the process, he also completed elective courses in aircraft construction, spacecraft design and orbital mechanics. During undergrad, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and attained his private pilot license. He earned his law degree from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California. While in law school, Lance earned the CALI “Excellence for the Future Award” for achieving the highest grade in Patent Application Drafting. He was admitted to the California bar in 2007 and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
