Bernard Tomsa zealously represents clients in all aspects of patent prosecution, from the drafting and filing patent applications to appealing Examiner decisions to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Bernie believes that having had a number of ex-PTO commissioners and Federal Circuit judges as law school professors while attending law school in the Washington D.C. area, as well as his concurrent exposure to the daily goings on at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, give him a unique perspective on patent prosecution. Bernie's background in computer science and his past work experience as a patent attorney for a top video game system manufacturer give him a great deal of insight into computer related applications for both software systems and hardware devices. He also has experience prosecuting applications for a variety of electrical and mechanical devices outside the computer science field. Bernie also prepares opinions on patentability, non-infringement, and right-to-use. Bernie is a member of the State Bar of Virginia and is certified to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
