Emily Adelman focuses the majority of her practice on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement matters. She also provides trademark litigation support.
Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Emily worked for an IP boutique law firm in Chicago, IL focusing on U.S. and international patent and trademark prosecution matters, litigation, and patent validity and infringement analyses. She has published articles and given presentations on various trademark and patent issues. Emily is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the State Bar of Illinois.
Emily earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004 in mechanical engineering, with a concentration in manufacturing, at The University of Michigan. Following her graduation, she attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. In 2008, she was awarded a Juris Doctor with a Certificate in Intellectual Property Law, graduating cum laude. She also holds a Master of Laws degree in intellectual property law from John Marshall, graduating with honors.
While studying at John Marshall, Emily was an Article Editor for the Review of Intellectual Property Law and competed in the BMI Entertainment Law Moot Court Competition in 2007 in New York City. In the summer of 2006, Emily participated in the Pierce Law Intellectual Property Summer Institute in Beijing, China, where she studied comparative intellectual property law. She was elected as member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges 2009, American Biographical Institute.
