Anna Heinl focuses her practice on intellectual property law while specializing in trademark, copyright, trade dress, internet and entertainment law. She has experience handling all areas of trademark protection and enforcement for her clients including trademark prosecution, cease and desist communications, enforcement searches, internet and social media enforcement procedures and proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, such as ex parte trademark appeals. Anna also has experience managing notice and takedown complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Anna represents clients ranging from large corporations to start-ups in a variety of areas including the automotive, entertainment and financial services industries. In particular, her background has been in the liberal arts as a professional actress, and she is well-versed in copyright matters related to the theatre, television, movie and music industries. As an individual who has experienced both the professional and the creative sides of the industry, Anna offers a unique perspective. She has worked on the set of several major Hollywood studios and has had the rare experience of participating in contract negotiations as talent and as counselor. Prior to becoming an associate at Brooks Kushman, Anna joined the firm as a law clerk and served as an intern for former Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Marilyn Kelly.
